Four Scenes from the Early Life of Saint Zenobius
This panel was probably painted as the backboard of a chest. It shows scenes from the life of the fifth-century saint Zenobius who later became a patron saint of Florence. From left to right, Zenobius rejects the marriage proposed by his parents; he is baptised; his mother is baptised; he is appointed Bishop of Florence by the Pope, Damasus.
