Portrait of a Lady
The emblem of palms stitched on the sitter's sleeve presumably indicates her family or that of her betrothed. The light - most obvious in the folds of the front of her dress and on the top of her chin is recorded as minute spots of white. When the panel was acquired it was attributed to Piero della Francesca. The frame is original.
