An Extensive Landscape with a Road by a River

In this imaginary landscape the deep recession is evoked by the winding road as well as by the varied application of paint. The foreground is painted in a broad manner, the middle ground in some detail, and the background with strokes of pure colour. It is an attempt to suggest the differential focus with which the eye perceives a flat landscape.
