Saints Christina and Ottilia

Saint Christina stands on a millstone. The stone miraculously floated after she had been tied to it and thrown into a lake. On her left is Saint Ottilia of Alsace, a Benedictine nun. She displays a pair of eyes, a reference to her miraculous cure from blindness. This originally formed, together with its pair, the outsides of shutters of an altarpiece for the Elector of Saxony, Frederick the Wise.
