The Agony in the Garden

As Christ prays in the Garden of Gethsemane an angel appears, bearing a cup and pointing to an apparition of the instruments of the Passion. In the foreground are the sleeping apostles: Peter (left), and James and John (on the right). In the distance Judas leads guards to arrest Christ. The artist uses several sources of light in the painting.
