Water-Lilies, Setting Sun
This painting shows a view of the water lily pond Monet had created in his garden at Giverny, Normandy. The flower-filled pond was a favourite subject of the artist. More spatially complex than earlier versions, this painting shows the inverted reflection of a weeping willow silhouetted by the setting sun, over which the water lilies float.
