Die kühne Geometrie dieser Ansicht wird durch ausgeprägte Licht- und Schattenzonen untermauert, die in einer begrenzten Palette von Farben und Farbtönen realisiert werden, die mit breiten Pinselstrichen aufgetragen werden. Im Frühjahr 1828 besuchte Fleury mit Corot die Bucht von Neapel und Ischia. Während seines Italienaufenthalts (1827–29) malte er neben Aligny und Édouard Bertin; Sie hatten sich in Paris während ihres Studiums bei dem Landschaftsmaler Jean Victor Bertin angefreundet.

The bold geometry of this view is underpinned by distinct zones of light and shadow, realized in a limited range of colors and hues applied with broad strokes of the brush. Fleury visited the Bay of Naples and Ischia with Corot in spring 1828. During his Italian sojourn (1827-29) he also painted alongside Aligny and Édouard Bertin; they had become friends in Paris while studying with the landscape painter Jean Victor Bertin.
