Johann Baptist Straub made these terracotta figures of Minerva, Mars and Diana as models for the monumental statues of antique deities in the Toerring-Jettenbach Palace. While both larger-than-life goddesses agree with the bozzetti in almost all of their details, the figure of Mars deviates clearly from its model. Juno in turn might have been a model for an unexecuted figure in marble for the park at Nymphenburg Palace. Straub was given the commission to design a statue of Juno for the par terre in April 1765.
