Christus am Ölberg

The panels of the Nativity, the Annunciation, the Adoration of the Magi and most likely the Resurrection are nowadays attributed to the main Master. The panels with the scenes of Christ on the Mount of Olives, the Crucifixion, and the Lamentation are all works of a workshop assistant as well as the Descent of the Holy Spirit and the Ascension of Jesus Christ. The closest contemporary piece and partially also the artistic variation of the Vyšší Brod cycle is the altarpiece with the passion cycle in Klosterneuburg, Austria. The lyrical atmosphere of the panel with Christ on the Mount of Olives is emphasized

by the subtle rendition of the landscape scenery and supplied is by the trio of trees with birds. The trees have symbolical meaning (symbols of the soul and the suffering of Christ).

Hlavnímu tvůrci se dnes připisují obrazy s Narozením Krista, Zvěstováním Panně Marii, Klaněním tří králů a patrně i se Zmrtvýchvstáním. Kristus na hoře Olivetské, Ukřižování, Oplakávání Krista, Seslání Ducha svatého a Nanebevstoupení Krista jsou dilem dílenské ho spolupracovníka. Nejbližší dobovou a částečně i výtvarnou obdobou vyšebrodského cyklu je pašijový oltář v rakouském Klosterneuburgu.
